CHANGE.

July 19, 2017

The thing.

The thing about blogging, I love, is having a place to store things. Whether thats recipes, memories or like todays collection of words, thoughts.

I have had a blog in various capacities for over 5 years now, each has lived a short life and then been deleted or abandoned. Why? Because I’ve never felt like these storage spaces I had created for myself, were a true representation of me. I was a teenager when I started, now I’m in my mid-ish twenties, with a person that I cohabitate with in most areas of my life, a degree I’m in my last semester of and a looming future I’m scared and elated to welcome. I have a different head now. It thinks, feels and calculates differently.

The gist.

As an ammeter photographer and self proclaimed rookie editor / content creator, I find my self contemplating the abundance of time I’m about to inherit. How shall I fill it? And how can I fill it with happiness and challenges?

The plan.

Unlike many times before I’ve decided to stand by THEROSE.CO and work through our issues together. She’s agreed to under go a face lift and style makeover, and I’ve agreed to pay more attention to her. We are going to reaffirm our commitment to each other by coming out into society, a new, in September. Cameras have been purchased, tickets have been booked and more experienced people have been consulted.

The reality

This is going to take a considerable amount of work but I’m enthused at the thought of the pursuit.

I will be voluntarily removing myself from my boyfriend and family for a period of 4 months, and embarking upon a self discovery quest with my person (off)(Grey’s Fans?) . To a place that doesn’t speak my mother tongue nor experience a constant 20*C+ climate.

Castle stays….

February 10, 2017

So whilst looking for places to stay around Italy we stumble upon this gem. No joke its a castle. I mean look at it. To say it was an amazing experience  would be an understatement. The rooms are old school and the food is honestly amazing, award winning actually. But a top tip I can share is, if your driving up yourself after the gated entrance keep left. Nick and I went right and ended up driving part way through an open art exhibition. 😮 opsy. Three point turning a fiat panda isn’t that easy when your doing it between a hill and some art.

This is by far the best risotto I’ve ever had. A creamy mint fusion!

Not going to lye as an Australian these are the only warm clothes I own, and let me tell you this place was nippy!! Check out some more here and the info on how to book.

Some pretty snap shots from around the grounds. That Nick and I took whilst going on one of the many walks.

He’s soo cute!!! We had this weird challenge to see who could take the most arty picture.

The view from our room, looking over the little town of Perigine Valsugana.

If your in need of a rest bight or some 1 on 1 time this is the place for you. It quiet and peaceful, the walks are beautiful and the food is delicious.

Cow-ch your buts and prepare to be Udder-ly impressed..

February 8, 2017

New desert bar has opened up near me and its called Cow-ch. The story goes that there were two cows in love with naughty secrets they both indulged in sweat treats. One in lollies and the other in ice-cream. They decided to combin they’re passions and made Cow-ch.

Flavour upon flavours of handmade custom flavours of ice cream.

and all different kinds of desserts.

Me and all my friends ready to digg into some deserts.

Exact Playsuit here.

No but seriously where’s my food.

My hate for chocolate still stands I’ve just never liked it. In saying that I can appreciate a good looking cup of hot chocolate. A smores hot chocolate to be exact (for the BFF).

I mean look at this cup!!! Its Udder-ly perfect!!

Froot Loops were always a no go when I grew up so now whenever they’re available.. it’s on!!! With a side of churo’s, cake base crumble, and two custom scoops of ice cream! YUMMMM. Ok am I the only one that panics after ordering food, at the thought that you ordered wrong. Which I did. Should have out some sort of syrup on this bad boy, it was slightly dry.

A Fashion find & New hot spot to eat!!!

January 27, 2017

This one is for the foody and fashionista inside you. My 23rd birthday is looming and I’m on of those people that doesn’t really ask for anything, of course theres things I want. But as with most amazing women there expensive. I have expensive taste ok! 😉 Long story short my lovely boyfriend decided going shopping and letting me choose something was the sure fire way to get it done. So away we went.

You can never have to many pair of sunglasses right?! That train of thought led me to Bailey Nelson. An amazing eye wear store that sells prescription glasses and sunglasses. Some quirky and amazing designs. Cooper coloured titanium frames through to old school looking clip ons. Bailey Nelson Australia. UK

I went for a classic black pair with a slightly rounded eye. All of their sunglasses are polarised, which is such a massive plus for me. I’d love to upload more pictures of me wearing them but sadly once I’d chosen the ones I wanted, they were hidden away, and are being held captive until my actually birthday in a few days. 🙁 To appease the hungry beast (me) Nick did the only thing you can do in these situations. He fed me! :):)

A place where you can eat a little bit of so many foods, what more could you ask for.

Totally satisfied! Take a look around its shiny and new.

In love with this colour couch, especially as a pop of colour against the monochrome palette.

For those unaware big girls drink Coke in wine glasses. Its fancy.

Now these bad boys are the real money makers. Four prawns wrapped in pastry and fried. Delicious!

It’s not like the usual Yum Cha’s I’ve had experiences with on the Gold Coast, which are more like a frozen packaged dim sim reheating station than a restaurant. I’ve eaten here twice, the first time saw us receiving an onslaught of delicacies, from dim sum, to beef trip, and everything in between. All of the dishes were delicious.

YUMMMMMMM!!!!!!! Find them here.

After some persuading I was permitted supervised visitation with my new little gems. Get them here.

TRAVEL

From Dubai….

January 19, 2017

This was my first trip to Dubai, I had no expectation going in, it had never been somewhere I had thought to travel. But by a happy coincidence caused by an extended layover I found my self exploring part of the UAE.

One word impression: ‘WOW’.

I ate Iraqi food for the first time and have been trying to recreate the soup I had for my entree ever since. I visited the Gold Souk, which is to vast and golden in colour to even begin to describe, but here goes. Imagine a tunnel and instead of dirt or concrete forming the walls its this bright orangey shinny stuff. Made up of uncountable amounts of jewellery, from chains, to rings, to piercings and everything in between. Trust me when I say you haven’t seen gold until you’ve walked through this mecca.

I will say this: I travel like a local I like to find the hidden places where tourist don’t venture and a truer representation of the place. Which is generally fine and I’ve never had any trouble. Whilst I didn’t have any trouble in Dubai there was more then one occasion where I was thankful for my 6ft4 boyfriend, and the fact that (although I was sweating my brains out) I’d worn jeans and a long sleeve top. If your respectful and aware of your surroundings you shouldn’t have any issues but I just thought I’d pop that in, for those who travel like me. 🙂

Dubai Mall:

In one section of this massive and I mean MASSIVE mall you can walk into a store and feel like you’ve been transported into a Parisian bakery, full to the brim with macaroons and hand crafted chocolate. The next shop takes you to a different time and dimension as you find yourself inside Ginny’s bottle from Aladin!!

Whilst sifting threw these gorgeous stores and being teased by the constant onslaught of home decor’ inspiration, I discovered a modern day form of torture forced upon us by airlines ‘weight allowance’. I mean look at these pieces! Just beconing for you to redecorate or add flare you’ve been missing from your life.

I feel quiet confident in saying that you won’t find a mall that has a full sized dinosaur skeleton,  multi story waterfall, and aquarium which you are able to walk through and float on, in any other shopping mall. Its definitely somewhere you have to experience to truely appreciate.

If you do find yourself in Dubai Mall do yourself a favour and get a map, make a plan, and designate a meeting spot. I got lost more then once, only to meet up with my group of 9 people and discover we had all been walking for more then 2 hours and never once crossed paths.

Until next time UAE

Minimal Travel Make Up Bag!

October 3, 2015

simple make up bag therose

A month trekking around Italy with layovers in Dubai and Singapore as well as countless train trips meant that my luggage had to be strategically packed and strictly weighed. Thus the amount of space allotted for luxuries like makeup was small. So I packed things that had multiple functions.

They’re Real Benefit Mascara: For the obvious eyelashes but also to tame the brows.

Foundation Stick Bobbi Brown: Concealer, Eyeshadow base and Foundation this beauty can be applied as either or all. Read review here.

Eyeshadow Duo: Eyeshadow and highlighter. Read review here.

Benefit Blush: Eyeshadow, blush and Lip tint. Swatches.

Paint Pot Benefit: Eyeshadow and Eyeshadow base. Swatches.

Nivea SPF 15+ Lip Balm: Lip Balm and slight sunscreen for the nose.

Revlon Concealer: Just the usual however you could use it over your lip balm as a nude lip colour (sparingly).

Bobbi Brown Eye Liner: Standard application 😉 although if you packed a coloured liner it could also be used as a lip liner, at a pinch.

Not only did this concise make up bag help with the weight issues. It also made getting ready and transitions from day to night quick and easy as there was little choice. I can’t suggest this packing style enough especially if your tight for space and/or time.

Melting Chocolate Cookies! Simple 5 Ingredient Recipe.

September 30, 2015

Melting Chocolate Cookies www.therose.co Melting Chocolate CookiMelting Chocolate Cookies www.therose.co

I know what your thinking, how oh how do I make these delicious looking (and tasting) cookies. Well my friends from the time you read this post to the bite of your first cookie could be less then 20 minutes away.

You’ll need:

1 cup Self Raising Flour

1 Cup Plain Flour

1/3 cup Milk

125g Butter

125 Caster Sugar

300g of chocolate

Preheat oven to 160*C

Cream your butter and sugar together then sift in your two different flours and add the milk. Stir to combine then add in your chocolate. To get these gowy bad boys I used a block of milk chocolate and half a block of dark and just roughly cut them into chunks.

I broke my recipe into 10 cookies, but they were quiet large it could easily make double that. Depending on how many cookies you split your batter into place them in the oven for 15 minutes. My batch of 10 took 25 minutes.

A little bit of PRADA!

September 28, 2015

little-bit-of-prada-1024x761

Whilst galavanting around Italy we came across a few Prada outlets speckled across the country side and decide to call into one. I was desperately on the hunt for THE BAG, one that was classic timeless and made me run across the store like a child to a bouncy house. Allas it wasn’t meant to be, whilst they did have quiet a selection of past seasosn stock nothing left me drooling; however I wasn’t about to leave empty handed so I picked up these little beauties.

This particular day we had driven 4 hours through stressful winding roads, myself as head navigator obviously felt the brunt of the stress. Needless to say upon arriving at the glass doors of Prada I looked less then my best. I was surrounded by perfect manicures, designer bags and teeny dogs.  I lent to my partner and said ‘we have to act cool!’ Just before leaving I’m trying to choose a perfume so I pick one up and proceed to tiredly squirt it into my eyes, in the centre of this well manicured and impeccable presented store. We proceeded to turn slowly and exit the building.

A tip for those who love Italian Designers like myself. Even at general outlet stores in Italy if the brand like Prada is Italian the prices are generally cheaper.
